Scholarship Applications Exceed Expectations

The application period for the first award of our Trails of Service Scholarship Fund recently closed, with 1,235 submissions for two $1,000 awards. The number of applications exceeded our expectations and showed the commitment and financial needs of nursing students.

Applications included a few common themes; the motivation to serve, a personal connection to managing a health condition, and serving as a caregiver for loved ones. Reviewing the applications was far more difficult than I expected, as each story was relatable, moving, and deserving of financial support.

Recipients will be announced on August 26th and we are excited to award our first scholarships to two deserving students. While this year has come to a close, we are busy preparing to fundraise for next year. Our goal for 2027 is to increase the award and number of recipients.

It will not be easy, however the need to support nursing students clearly exists and we are honored to play a role in supporting the future of the profession.
