Save the Empire

After a more than 20 year hiatus from my days on college radio, I recently returned to the airwaves on KGVM Bozeman. Available locally on 95.9 FM and on the internet on kgvm.org, the station exudes everything wonderful about community radio.

The staff and volunteers love the magic of radio and commit countless hours to not only develop and air programming, but also fundraise to keep the lights on and licensing bills paid. They are the jack of all trades specilisists that troubleshoot equipment and still find time to make the coffee. Being in the studio is a breath of fresh air as it exudes character and charm that seems to follow small-town radio.

I’ll be on the air every Wednesday starting 15 Nov. from 10-11 am mountain time. My working title is “jammy grunge” with Jonathan. An ode to my upbringing in the heyday of Phish and the revitalization of the Grateful Dead to Dead and Co.

Beyond music, my plan is to host guests that are having an impact in our community. Whether it’s through business, philanthropy, or just being an entertaining and positive community figure; I hope to have them on the show.
