Extra Mayo: Rochester Eating
I have a few go-to spots when I’m visiting Mayo when I’m crunched for time or just do not have the energy to cook.
One thing to keep in mind is the hospital food is not bad in taste or cost. When I was admitted for my colon removal surgery, I liked the quality and options they provided in the hospital. If you are at the hospital for daily appointments, there are also some great cafe options on the subway level.
If hospital food is not your thing, then here is a list of a few of the spots I like to go. I don’t eat out often, so by no means is this a comprehensive collection.
Coffee is of course, Cafe Steam. I probably fan boy them a little too much, but the coffee and people are fantastic. They also have baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, and are open until 10 pm.
The food options I like include:
Victorias Ristorante and Wine Bar: Right next door to the hospital and they have a number of Italian options
City Market Downtown: Soup, sandwiches, and salads that a great on the go and a very short walk from the hospital.
Nupa Mediterranean: I could take a bath in their hummus and can’t go wrong with any of their food.
Hollandberry Pannenkoeken: Incredible breakfast food and baked goods.
